I’d like you to meet Constable Chase Porter, my hero from BACKLASH<\/a>. He’s a Constable with the RCMP which is Canada’s federal police force. He’s been transferred to Aspen Lake and the town is he grew up in and left ten years ago. He’s a man of few words but he’s tries to do the right thing even when he’d rather not.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Constable Chase Porter is in the hot seat today for our Hero Segment.<\/strong> Because I pulled the short straw.<\/p>\n

Nice to know you\u2019re happy to be here.\u00a0 All that attitude actually works in our favor, ups our readership. That sort of thing. <\/strong>Romance writers. Always looking for an angle.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll take that as a compliment. Now, let\u2019s get down to it.<\/strong> Oh yes, lets.<\/p>\n

So, you\u2019re about what? 6\u20191\u201d \u2013 6\u20192\u201d, a hundred and\u2014<\/strong> Seriously? No. And I\u2019m not taking anything off either, just encase that\u2019s where you\u2019re going next.<\/p>\n

Would you rather see a movie at the theater or at home on DVD?<\/strong> No question, at home on DVD. Why?<\/strong> Because I can spread out, grab a beer, and eat pizza. What if it\u2019s a date?<\/strong> DVD. Ladies choice. What are you going to feed her?<\/strong> Breakfast in bed.<\/p>\n

Would you rather watch a sitcom, a reality show, a police drama, a legal drama, or a medical drama? Or something else?<\/strong> Sports. Preferably football \u2013 CFL or NFL. Or Basketball \u2013 college.<\/p>\n

If you could be a character in any novel you\u2019ve ever read, who would you be and why?<\/strong> Superman. So what\u2019s your kryptonite?<\/strong> She\u2019s got freckles and curly hair and the sweetest smile you\u2019ve ever seen.<\/p>\n

At what age did you lose your virginity?<\/strong> No comment. That seems to be a theme with you.<\/strong> Why? Are you embarrassed by the answer?<\/strong> No, but I\u2019ve always been a fan of the kiss don\u2019t tell philosophy. You sure that\u2019s all it is?<\/strong> Pretty damn sure.<\/p>\n

Do you have a personal written budget?<\/strong> Yeah, like don\u2019t spend it if you don\u2019t have it. I\u2019ve got that written down somewhere.<\/p>\n

Do you like to sing karaoke?<\/strong> No one wants to hear me sing. Under any circumstance. And I can\u2019t think of even one that would see me on a stage in front of a mic preparing to make a total fool of myself.<\/p>\n

What was your favorite game to play as a child?<\/strong> I grew up in Aspen Lake. On summer nights us neighborhood kids would stay out till after dark and play hide-and-go-seek. We used to scare each other silly. Good times.<\/p>\n

Would you rather have super strength or super intelligence?<\/strong> How about a little bit of both. You know, balance in all things.<\/p>\n

What is the one habit you have that you would like to change? <\/strong>Wishing for something you know you can\u2019t have. And I should probably cut back on the coffee.<\/p>\n

How many pairs of shoes do you own?<\/strong> How would I know? I don\u2019t count them. Three? Maybe four?<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the last song you downloaded to your iPod?<\/strong> I Don\u2019t Know by The Sheepdogs.<\/p>\n

What is your most prized possession?<\/strong> This. Very nice medal.<\/strong> Saint Thomas of Aquinas. It was the last thing my mother gave to me. I never take it off.<\/p>\n

Favorite sport?<\/strong> That would be football. And before you ask why football? I don\u2019t know why. Probably the same reason women read romance novels. \u00a0Entertainment. Escapism.<\/p>\n

Guys in tight pants. <\/strong>Sigh. Angelina Jolie or Nicole Kidman?<\/strong> Angelina. Why?<\/strong> Because\u2026that mouth makes you imagine a whole lot of things.<\/p>\n

Johnny Depp or Hugh Jackman?<\/strong> Wolverine.<\/p>\n

Team Edward or Team Jacob?<\/strong> What sport are we talking about?<\/p>\n

When dedicated teacher Lily Wheeler interrupts a vicious gang attack on one of her students, she vows it won’t happen again. But her rash interference puts her in the path of a cold-blooded killer and the constable tracking him-a man she has little reason to trust, but can never forget.<\/p>\n

Now, the dangerous killer Chase has sworn to capture has Lily in his sights. Can Chase and Lilly learn to trust each other again before it’s too late-or will old insecurities jeopardize their future?<\/p>\n
